Mission
BeeUrban exists to promote positive environmental practices around beekeeping in an urban environment.
Aims
- To provide demonstration, instruction, training, consultancy and general support in beekeeping to people living in Greater London;
- To provide education in urban ecology to people living in Greater London;
- To promote the craft of beekeeping, and the practice of good beekeeping husbandry, to people living in Greater London;
- To increase community and social cohesion amongst people living in Greater London.
Objectives
- To develop and manage a beekeeping training hub and centre for environmental education from a site in Kennington Park, North Lambeth;
- To build and manage a network of independent beekeeping sites across Greater London;
- To build and manage a network of garden sites across Greater London;
- To provide time banking and volunteering opportunities around beekeeping and activities related to the development and management of the site at Kennington Park;
- To deliver and facilitate beekeeping training workshops;
- To facilitate work with schools local to Kennington Park, North Lambeth, on projects relating to urban ecology, beekeeping and the environment;
- To sell and distribute beekeeping equipment from the site in Kennington Park;
- To develop partnerships with organisations and projects working in complimentary areas (eg candle making with beeswax).
